Our overall collection contains over 3000 items, not only 35mm & 70mm professional projection and sound equipment, but narrow gauge (8mm, Super 8mm, 9.5mm, 12.5mm, 16mm, 17.5mm, 28mm) projectors, still, movie and video cameras, slide and epidiascope projectors.


British Thomson-Houston (BTH) 1930’s all British projection unit, (still in working condition), which would have been installed in many Odeon cinemas. It has a Type A projector head, D-block sound head and a low intensity carbon arc lamp which ran from a three phase motor generator set producing DC for the stage speaker magnets and the sound exciter lamp.

This projection unit was rescued from Stewarby Village Hall, near Bedford, UK - its twin is in the Milton Keynes Museum, UK

simplex projector

American Simplex projector, circa 1930’s, which has a converted front shutter to rear shutter projector head, Westrex N1-B sound head with Western Electric Drive. A Monarc hand fed, low intensity carbon arc lamp is also fitted and all this is mounted on a WE Universal base.
